You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Aviation Survival Training Center (ASTC), Naval Survival Training Institute (NSTI) Detachment of NAVMED OPER TRNG CENTER.

Duties

You will perform corrective maintenance on all devices and systems using theory, test equipment to determine reason for failure. You will utilize technical documentation (blueprints, manufacturer's specifications, technical manuals and maintenance records) to isolate the malfunction to failed parts. You will perform preventative maintenance, organization and intermediate and depot level maintenance repair, and modifications as necessary to assure operational readiness. You will prepare and submit supervisor modification requests, Technical Equipment Change Directives (TECD), and changes to technical manuals and publications as necessary.

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing automated systems (e.g., management information system, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) to extract information. Experience assisting with clerical and administrative functions to support the needs of the organization. Experience preparing reports and maintaining documents in electronic files for easy retrieval. Experience in the safe use and handling of oxygen under high pressure and oxygen equipment undergoing repairs. Experience reviewing forms and instructions ensuring they are approved and controlled. Experience in performing preventative maintenance and repair on equipment. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9.
