You will serve as a Supervisory Security Specialist in the Information Security and Special Programs Branch of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.
Duties
You will lead a technical team that designs and develops complex regulations and procedures required to maintain NRL SCI compliance throughout a hybrid research environment.
You will have authority over all NRL SCI programs, to include contracts, clearances, visitor need to know certifications, and accreditation of all SCIFs.
You will apply considerable judgement and ingenuity in interpreting existing guidance as well as development of broad-based SCI solutions.
You will oversee educational and awareness programs surrounding SCI programs.
You will directly supervise and manage section personnel.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain applicable qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band (NO-04) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in order to perform the duties of a Supervisory Security Specialist. Specialized experience must include some or all of the following: 1) Identifying and resolving developmental needs and problems; 2) Completing appropriate administrative actions as they relate to high level security programs; 3) Complying with EEO/Safety and other regulations and policies; and 4) Implementing Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) policies and procedures within a Special Security Office (SSO) using sound security administration and risk management practices.
