About the Position: This position is with the US Army Sustainment Command, Logistics Readiness Center at Fort Cavazos, TX.
Duties
Develops briefings at program level, tracks data/claims trends, improvements, and claims resolutions to identify areas of potential improvements and best practices.
Utilizes various claims and transportation automated systems in order to resolve issues and answer claimants questions.
Investigates and develops supporting evidence for loss and damage claims arising from storage and movement of personal property and makes recommendations for use in affixing responsibility and settlement of claims.
Determines and advises customers on entitlements or procedures related to temporary storage of goods, weight allowances; prohibited items; and shipment of personal property including various methods available.
Plans, books, and routes personal property, estimates cost savings, time involved, time of arrival, storage in transit involved, and purposes.
Prepares and process various applications for transportation or storage of a wide range of personal property and privately owned vehicles, including special items, of authorized civilian and military members.
Makes detailed cost comparisons to determine the best and most economical method of movement, and screens movement documents for correct accounting data.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 20% of the time.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate valid state driver's license.
- Incumbent may be required to work various hours to include holidays, weekends, or on-call duty
- Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Government vehicle operation certificate, within 30 days of employment.
- A qualified typist (at least 40 words per minute with 3 or fewer errors) is required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) reviewing reports of loss or damage to ensure compliance with established guidelines; 2) using automated transportation systems to resolve issues; and 3) verifying rates and services billed were rendered in accordance with existing contracts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
