This position is located in the Little Rock, AR Area Office of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The primary purpose of the position is to serve as an assistant for clerical and administrative activities pertaining to correspondence, budget, purchasing, human resources, timekeeping, travel, and related administrative areas for a State Area Office.
Duties
Serves as the central point of contact to provide program support for a wide range of administrative, office support, and clerical functions.
Establishes, organizes, and maintains a filing system of official material and records; disposes material in accordance with prescribed procedures.
Provides administrative guidance, updates, and retrieval of information associated with training, travel, and technical reports.
Serves as purchase card holder and inventory recorder for supplies, equipment, and services within delegated authority, ensuring proper and timely documentation and reconciling.
Requirements
- To qualify for this position, you must have a typing speed of at least 40 words per minute. You must self-certify your typing speed.
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check. If selected you will be sent instructions on obtaining fingerprints. Please note we are not able to reimburse any fees incurred for fingerprints.
- Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-7
Specialized Experience: One or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties:
Maintaining a program filing/case system and adhering to filing requirements;
Utilizing word processing equipment and computers for data entry and other administrative tasks; and
Assuring accurate inventory of accountable property/equipment. (Your resume must CLEARLY demonstrate this experience)
GS-8
Specialized Experience: One or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service, performing the following duties:
Processing and monitoring directives, policies, procedures, guidelines, and/or subscriptions to ensure the office environment is informed;
Preparing and processing travel audits and local travel claim for reimbursements;
Preparing property transfers and making recommendations for security of personal property; and
Assisting with preparing budgetary information by ensuring its accuracy and conformance to requirements and financial objectives.
