This position is in the Financial Management Division, Office of the Executive Director, Bureau of Administration (A/PRI/EX/FMD), in the U.S. Department of State.
Duties
Provides frequent travel related communications and advisory assistance to managers and employees.
Analyzes, evaluates, advises on, and provides recommendations to the FMD Division Chief and travel staff Team Leader for process improvements of the travel management program.
Keeps abreast of the latest changes in travel regulations and procedures and informs the Travel Team Leader of significant changes might impact the program.
Administers and oversees the travel program for the Bureaus of Administration (A). Bureau of Diplomatic Technology (DT) and other serviced bureaus.
Work includes domestic and international travel management such as: authorization of travel orders, travel advances, travel vouchers, and assistance in obtaining diplomatic passports and visas.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.

Qualifications
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided you with knowledge of the methods and procedures for providing or performing a variety of functions and services applicable to the position to be filled; ability to plan, organize, and control work involving diverse activities; ability to gain cooperation and coordinate the work of others; and skill in oral and written communication.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
Knowledge of Travel Solution Programs.
Knowledge of Visa and Passport authorization process for official travel.
In addition, qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience using travel systems (creation, approval of travel authorizations, vouchers, user administration), understanding and applying federal travel regulations (added bonus for State travel regulations).
Experience in handling tough travel questions and ability to apply regulations to reduce audit findings.
Experience and knowledge of the travel card program
Experience in assisting with creation of letters of authorizations for both passports and visa requests
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
