About the position: Outdoor Recreation, Kirtland AFB, NM. This position may be filled as Flexible, Regular Part Time, or Regular Full Time Employment Category. Flexible Employment Category (00 guaranteed hrs/wk) may work up to 40 hrs/wk if mission requires. Regular Part Time (20 guaranteed hrs/wk) or Regular Full Time (35 guaranteed hrs/wk) employment category may be eligible for benefits such as Medical/Dental, Group Life, 401(k), and AFNAF Retirement. Duties

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Organizes and leads Outdoor Program Activities. Teaches youth and adult recreation skills from beginner to advance. Conducts outings and programs. Completes after action reports. Develops a comprehensive local resource inventory for program planning and referral. Reviews and analyzes market data to determine program preferences. Develops a minimum of 2 seasonal program schedules. Support Recreation Operations; stocks merchandise and assists in taking inventories. Participates in and leads recreation programs. Performs interior and exterior facility maintenance tasks as required. Cleans floors, windows, and repaints as needed. Ensures implementation and maintenance of required sanitation practices. Practices safe procedures regarding blood borne pathogens. Assists in Retail Sales Operations Rental Equipment Checkout. Prepares deposits and ensure daily deposit to the central cashier. Provides customer information and referrals. Checks customer eligibility. Collects cash, receipts, register tapes, credit card receipts and other supporting documentation and cashes checks. Prepares cashier reports, reconciles, and ensures proper accounting for controlled forms and informs management of irregularities. Signs up customers for classes, trips, and programs. Checks out equipment, rental items, etc. Processes facility and equipment reservations. Provides Quality Customer Service. Positively interacts with all customers (i.e. greets and offers assistance). Required to wear Outdoor Recreation logo when on duty. Resolves customer complaints and problems as empowered. Informs Outdoor Recreation Program Manager of any major customer problems and concerns. Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to satisfactorily complete a Tier (T1) background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires incumbent be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 100 pounds.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Experience that demonstrates ability to apply the principles, methods, and techniques of recreation, and an understanding of the interests of individuals or groups. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, and push/pull 100 pounds. Specialized: Planning, organizing, coordination, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, indoor, or other recreational programs. Instructing in the principles and techniques of recreational program planning and management. Serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and or national recreational organizations. Education: At least one year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement or 1-year equivalent to at least GS-05/NF-02. Previous ODR experience, instructing, and/or teaching experience preferred/desired. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
