About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.
Duties
Incumbent is the primary point of contact for all United States Military Academy (USMA) Web Presence Ambassador program functions.
Monitors region legislation and employs best web practices IAW DoD standards and higher education institution peers.
Employs all protocol techniques and communication skills as to execute the goals and visions set by the USMA.
Ensures web page updates are accomplished in support of the dynamic needs of the USMA
mission.
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with key USMA stakeholders, the Army staff, alumni, research partners, and future candidates.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- The incumbent must be able to complete training Contracting Officer Representative (COR) training in accordance with DoD Instruction 5000.72 within 6 months.
- The incumbent must be able to complete CISA-Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency certification within 6 months.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes1) using automated systems to prepare correspondences, memorandums and/or reports, 2) communicating information to varying audiences, 3) Experience creating and/or managing updating web pages, design and/or content AND 4) maintaining media relations AND 5) selecting imagery for web pages and/or media content. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
