You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR) in the Nuclear Engineering Training Branch (Code 2301.3), Assistant Nuclear Engineering and Planning Manager (Code 2301), Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department (Code 2300) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will independently plan, organize and accomplish complex engineering technical projects in support of an effective nuclear engineer
training program.
You will plan and organize a training program that meets the minimum requirements of Section 4.4 of NAVSEA 0989-062-4000.
You will serve as a consultant to shipyard management and other organizations inside and outside of the shipyard.
Requirements

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing
radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to
travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
Qualifications
GS12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Utilizing advanced knowledge in nuclear engineering and comprehensive experience in training the nuclear engineering community using adult learning techniques and principles derived from best practices within the NAVSEA corporation and private industry.
Utilizing advanced experience planning and organizing training of nuclear engineers and engineering technicians in subject matters, not limited to, Section 4.4 of NAVSEA 0989-062-4000, nuclear theory, security, safety and other NAVSEA mandated training areas.
Demonstrating extensive experience as a senior Nuclear Engineering Technician, Project Engineering and Planning Manager, Work Packager and or a Nuclear Planner and/or a Nuclear Planner.
Possessing experience with Naval Engineering and Planning Department (NEPD's) nuclear training programs and their interface with the other shipyard departments and training programs.
Conducting studies, surveys, drills and internal audits to determine proficiencies and efficiencies and evaluating findings to achieve the optimum training program objectives and needs.
GS11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Demonstrating comprehensive experience in training the nuclear engineering community using adult learning techniques and principles derived from best practices within the NAVSEA corporation and private industry.
Planning and organizing training of nuclear engineers and engineering technicians in subject matters, not limited to, Section 4.4 of NAVSEA 0989-062-4000, nuclear theory, security, safety and other NAVSEA mandated training areas.
Possessing experience with Naval Engineering and Planning Department (NEPD's) nuclear training programs and their interface with the other shipyard departments and training programs.
Conducting studies, surveys, drills and internal audits to determine proficiencies and efficiencies and evaluating findings to achieve the optimum training program objectives and needs.
