You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC SUPERVISOR I in the Mechanical Shop (Code 930), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will apply expert knowledge of the methods, techniques, processes, procedures, tools, materials, and practices of the marine machinery mechanic trade.
You will plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools provided through the (AIM) process for assigned units of work.
You will monitor the status of assigned work in relation to the overall scheduled requirements.
You will maintain accurate records of time expended and progress on assigned jobs.
You will lead a team of trade journeymen in the performance of complex repairs and alterations including manufacture, repair, installation, test and inspection of components and all other work operations under the Marine Machinery Mechanic Trade.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- You must be willing and able to accept a temporary position not to exceed one year.
Qualifications

Responsible for specific trade experts and the supervision of the quantity and quality of the work performed by subordinates, requiring the application by the incumbent of general knowledge of the methods, techniques, processes, procedures, tools, materials, and practices of these other trades.
Ability to evaluate the skills of the team members and work collaboratively with trade expert or trade supervisor.
