You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC SUPERVISOR I in the Mechanical Shop (Code 930), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will be apply expert knowledge of the methods, techniques, processes, procedures, tools, materials, and practices of the marine machinery mechanic trade.
You will plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools provided through the (AIM) process for assigned units of work.
You will monitor the status of assigned work in relation to the overall scheduled requirements.
You will maintain accurate records of time expended and progress on assigned jobs.
You will lead a team of trade journeymen in the performance of complex repairs and alterations including manufacture, repair, installation, test and inspection of components and all other work operations under the Marine Machinery Mechanic Trade.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- You must be willing and able to accept a temporary promotion not to exceed one year.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Ability to lay-out, inspect, repair, relocate, modify and align a wide variety of marine machinery, equipment, and systems located aboard submarines, ships, and other floating crafts on a continuing basis;
Determining sequence, priorities, and deadlines of scheduled assignments;
Planning most efficient use of equipment, material, and manpower in terms of workload and completion dates;
Executing administrative functions, scheduling and approving leave, issuing performance appraisals, and deciding conduct related matters; Developing and implementing work and safety procedures.
