You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC SUPERVISOR I in the Mechanical Shop (Code 930), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will provide performance evaluation and feedback to work leaders and journeyman. You will effectively support the economic operations of the shipyard. You will ensure that all minorities and women are considered for training opportunities and are also nominated/appointed to boards and committees. You will cooperate and participate fully in the development of an EEO Affirmative Action Plan and efforts regarding staffing, motivation and training to develop all employees.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE Knowledge of the methods, techniques, processes, procedures, tools, materials, and practices of the marine machinery mechanic trade. Knowledge of the Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) processes.
