You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC SUPERVISOR I in the Mechanical Shop (Code 930), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will provide performance evaluation and feedback to work leaders and journeyman.
You will effectively support the economic operations of the shipyard.
You will ensure that all minorities and women are considered for training opportunities and are also nominated/appointed to boards and committees.
You will cooperate and participate fully in the development of an EEO Affirmative Action Plan and efforts regarding staffing, motivation and training to develop all employees.
Requirements

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Ability to establishing deadlines, priorities, and work sequences.
Ability to utilize Component Unit Phase level schedules, shipyard instructions and shop processes to establish goal oriented work assignments.
Ability to execute work assigned in accordance with the production schedule established by the Zone Manager.
Ability to provide technical direction to subordinate workers in the marine machinery trade.
Ability to provide expert advice and guidance on marine machinery mechanic processes and trader skills to management and mixed trade supervisors on assigned projects.
Ability to plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools provided through the (AIM) Advanced Industrial Management process for assigned units of work.
