Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-5. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a Management and Program Assistant, you will:
Respond to routine requests for information, and appropriately refers those needing additional attention.
Provide processing support for Departmental correspondence in accordance with the latest, revised Departmental Correspondence Handbook 2221.1, as revised.
Compile and distribute routine information in a professional manner in response to requests received through phone calls and walk-in visitors needing housing or other assistance through HUD programs.
Update and maintain current customer service-related electronic data as well as other internal/external information, including needed data, fact sheets, and reference materials for efficient customer service duties and office reports, and other communication needs.
Participate in meetings and ad hoc groups to assist in providing input, recommended solutions to problems, and to identify opportunities to improve areas of mutual concern.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
General Experience: For the GS-2 grade level, general experience must include 3 months of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
OR Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
General Experience: For the GS-3 grade level, general experience must include 6 months of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
OR Education: 1 year above high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
OR Combination: You may qualify with a combination of qualifying education and experience. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
Education
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the
