About the Position: Serves as Supervisory Logisitics Management Specialist for U.S. Army Field Level Maintenance and logistics system management and/or policies and procedures with the responsibility of integrating the supply, maintenance and transportation functions into a unified logistics program as it relates to supported customers

Duties

Analyze organizational-wide logistics readiness posture for the equipment status, supply support capabilities, and regulatory policy. Achieve the highest level of U.S. Army tactical ground and small arms equipment for readiness. Use multiple Tactical Enterprise Logistics Systems to analyze a variety of data on current and/or projected readiness. Coordinate with applicable activities/organizations to verify nature of problems to provide assistance in improving logistics support effectiveness. Establish work priorities and critically reviews work of assigned personnel in progress and upon completion. Coordinate with appropriate functional specialists in areas such as maintenance, supply, quality assurance, procurement, other commands, higher headquarters, other military services, contractor representatives, and personnel in support functions. Serve as a fleet specialist for field level maintenance assisting supported customers with various problems, delays or negative impact requiring resolution, assistance or guidance.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • The incumbent may be required to work extended hours both scheduled and unscheduled.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: (1) Leading Field Level Maintenance operations in support of tactical ground systems including wheeled, tracked, and construction equipment; (2) Integrating supply and maintenance functions into a logistics program; (3) Utilizing an automated supply system such as Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army) for work order management and to analyze data on current and projected equipment readiness and repair parts. (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) PlanningLeadershipProject ManagementTechnical Credibility Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
