About the Position: You will work for the local U.S. Army Recruiting Brigade in the Advertising and Public Affairs section. You will serve as the Public Aff airs Specialist responsible for developing modern and engaging programs and content to support the organization's engagement strategy for reaching its internal and external audiences as part of the recruiting mission for the U.S. Army.

Duties

Selects appropriate advertising and promotion opportunities to ensure positive relations with public. Maintains purchase orders and verifies proof of purchase. Allocates funding and oversees Public Affairs budgeting. Establishes and maintains working relationships with the local and regional media. Creates speech material and perform administrative tasks. Writes and edits news material

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires approximately 10% of your duty to be performed in Temporary Duty Away (TDY) from your place of work status.
  • This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes limited direction create public affairs planning, analysis and communications products; manage outreach programs, events and corresponding budgets; establish and maintain relations with media outlet representatives and community partners; help internal and external stakeholders with their public affairs operations, e.g., media and community relations products, programs and events. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). -OR- Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Communications, Media, Advertising, or Public Relations. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget ExecutionCommunications and MediaEducation and TrainingEducation Outreach Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). Military members may be appointed while on terminal/transitional leave, before the effective date of their military retirement/separation.
