As an IT Specialist, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, protecting and improving the information technology systems the organization utilizes and relies upon.
Duties
Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
Serve as the Information System Owner (ISO) for the organization’s System Security Plan (SSP) by providing guidance on information security governance matters to ensure alignment with business objectives and priorities.
Participate in the configuration management process, establish and maintain inventory of components associated with the information system; conduct security impact analysis on changes; conduct remediation activities to maintain system authorization.
Make recommendations pertaining to IT-related hardware, software, licensing, and maintenance agreements; submit IT-related procurement requests for Agency approval; coordinate IT-related procurements with Resource Analysts.
Monitor the progress of contractors and civil servants who manage IT administrative systems, including, but not limited to Maximo, GIS, Archibus, Prolog Construction Mgr., Autodesk AutoCAD and utility monitoring and control systems.
Provide support for cost-saving initiatives as they relate to IT and data usage/storage.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level:
Assisting in the testing of systems to ensure that they meet IT security policies;
Identifying security risks associated with others through contractual agreements;
Interacting with contractors or customers to provide technical support.
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
Performing testing of systems to ensure that they meet IT security policies;
Assessing security risks associated with others through contractual agreements;
Serving as a liaison for contractors or customers and providing technical support to users.
AND
IF you are qualifying based on experience, you MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
