About the Position: Serves as a Supervisory Operations Specialist (Chief of Operations Branch) for the Plans and Operations Division, Directorate, Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS). Responsible for supporting and executing all operations, plans, contingencies and exercises at United States Army Garrison, Fort Carson, CO.
Duties
Advises the garrison commander, senior leadership and staff on all operational matters and sensitive issues raised in incoming actions related to completion of installation orders, plans and tasking of other units.
Coordinate the installation operations with higher, lower, and adjacent headquarters.
Responsible for planning, directing the DPTMS Operations Section engaged in USAG coordination, synchronization, special events, ceremonies, reports, taskers.
Serve as Operations Branch representative at various meetings, working group committees, panels, briefings, conferences and task forces charged with developing operations policy for the installation.
Perform the full range of first line supervisory duties to a subordinate work force engaged in ongoing program activities.
Responsible for directing the formulation, coordination and execution of operational, emergency and disaster plans and policies for the garrison and assigned units.
Conduct operational reporting using automated systems such as Installation Status Report, Internal Control System, common Levels of Support and Enterprise Architecture.
Develop realistic plans and operations that meet the Major Command (MACOM) level guidance instructing directorates/units and the direct management of all available resources.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- One-year Supervisory Probationary Period may be required.
- The incumbent of this position must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance for the duration of employment.
- Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. Incumbent must make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- This position requires overtime and on-call duty on short notice to include nights, holidays and
weekends.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing plans and strategies for internal and external integration of day-to-day and long-range projects, actions, and activities; Applying analytical methods and techniques to resolve issues concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of operations; Managing the planning, direction, and timely execution of assigned programs; resolving problems concerning the processing of actions and the efficiency of operations; Supervising work of subordinates in the unit and ensures equity among subordinates; And resolving group grievances or serious employee complaints. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
