Duties
Serves as a full Deputy to the MWR Director for a large/mega large garrison by performing a variety of duties in the short- and long-range strategic planning, coordination, and daily oversight of all matters pertaining to the Directorate.
Represents the Director in all matters including the coordination of programs within and outside the directorate. The incumbent is responsible for liaison, oversight, coordination, and integration of a broad range of cross-functional matters.
Extensive knowledge of DFMWR mission, vision, and functions. Thorough understanding of the Director’s philosophies, priorities, preferences, and objectives to conduct in-depth, comprehensive analysis relating to actions, projects, and programs.
The incumbent must be very familiar with managerial processes and independently plan, develop, and carry out delegated responsibilities and assigned special projects, resolving most problems that arise.
Reviews program changes and discusses changes in goals and objectives with activity managers and supervisors, ensuring objectives and goals are attainable and economically feasible. Evaluates goal achievement and program execution.
The incumbent is typically expected to develop, interpret, and redefine guides. The work demands executive ability in researching, determining the intent of, and providing comprehensive interpretations of regulatory and policy guidance.
The work requires the incumbent to define problem areas based on in-depth, extensive analysis and data related to on-going and projected DFMWR programs. Provide recommendations; and make decisions from an overall executive standpoint.
Frequent contact with high-ranking military, civilian managers, local organizations and representatives of the local business and civic community.
The work is primarily sedentary. No special physical demands are required. Travel may be required. Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Normal safety precautions are required.
Keeps the Director informed of controversial issues, and those with far-reaching implications. Completed work is reviewed in terms of overall effectiveness, adherence to policy, and compatibility with overall goals and guides.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications
Managerial work experience and executive knowledge and ability of the caliber described above.
