This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-11 and GS-12. You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Systems Integration Department, Guns Division, Minor Caliber Guns Branch (Code G32) of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division.

Duties

You will provide in-service engineering support and representation of the Minor Caliber Gun Branch during the manufacture, installation, repair, overhaul, and conversion of Minor Caliber Guns. You will participate as a Minor Caliber In Service Engineering Group member and contribute to the team with the knowledge and skills required to perform installation, repair, overhaul, and conversion of MK46/MK44 30mm. You will conduct Naval Minor Caliber gun pre-fire checks, live fire exercises, post fire and periodic weapon maintenance, and weapon inventory accountability actions. You will provide advice to managers, supervisors, peers, and sponsors on specific technical aspects of Naval Minor Caliber gun systems or concept development.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires a considerable amount of physical activity including climbing, crouching, bending and lifting of approximately 50 lbs.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-3 pay band (GS-9 and GS-10 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying a wide range of technical engineering principles to support and/or coordinate the installation, repair, overhaul, or conversion of gun weapon systems.
