The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center (AC) serves as Army's technology leader for armament systems. DEVCOM ensures dominance of Army capabilities by researching, developing, integrating, delivering technology-enabled armament solutions to our Warfighters. Armaments Center has a long tradition as the primary research and development center for new and existing armament systems which are in use by U.S. service members around the world.
Duties
Serves as a technician who accomplishes work of unusual difficulty and responsibility which has demonstrated technical innovation and recognized attainment.
Coordinates and executes movement and disposal of energetic materials and hazardous waste in accordance with applicable requlations.
Set up and execute complex explosive operations such as small-scale safety testing, small scale formulation/processing equipment and energetic machining.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a three year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the DE-02/GS-11-GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Planning and conducting energetic materials testing on experimental as well as legacy energetic materials in a laboratory environment; 2) Coordinating with scientists and engineers to clarify customer work requirements; 3) Develop pilot processes for prototyping of experimental energetic materials and sub components; 4) Plans and performs both remote and non-remote energetics processing operations on a wide variety of energetic materials including boosters, high explosives and propellants and 5) Recommends methods for improving tests in progress to improve efficiency.
