About the Position: As a Supervisory Financial Management Specialist you will be overseeing all financial management operations and automated systems for the organization; and supervising subordinate personnel and their work. This position is located at HQ US FORSCOM in Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

Duties

Oversees command activities to ensure fiscal integrity and to prevent fraud, waste, abuse or mismanagement of fiscal resources. Staffs and executes the Army's General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) helpdesk requirements for the Forces Command and Direct Reporting Units (DRUs). Exercises administrative and technical supervision over a diverse staff of professional, administrative and technical personnel. Develop performance standards and evaluates work performance of subordinates. Offers advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Consults with specialists on training needs and decides on training programs related to subordinates supervised. Provides monthly and quarterly financial status reports to management. Analyzes and researches existing financial management requirements and procedures and regulatory reports ensuring financial data integrity. Assists with a smooth Fiscal Year end closeout with HQDA, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (DASA), DFAS and Corps by monitoring all trouble errors and answering customer inquiries.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position requires a FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 2 Certification. This position requires selectee to comply with all Department of Defense and Department of the Army requirements of this certification program.
  • Failure to obtain this certification within the required time may subject the selectee to adverse action.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Financial ManagementFinancial Management AnalysisHuman Resources Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
