About the Position: This position serves as the Deployment Specialist with responsibility to provide technical deployment/ systems support to all United States Army Reserve Command (USARC) and Army National Guard (ARNG) Units mobilized in the Continental United States (CONUS) in the First Army Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Duties

Serve as a Deployment Specialist responsible to provide technical deployment/ systems support to all units mobilized. Utilize data from major mobilization systems such as Joint Capabilities Requirements Manager, Joint Operations Planning and Execution Systems and other information systems to move units through the deployment process. Provide technical deployment assistance to units in collection of accurate unit movement data, utilization of Command and Control (C2) systems. Review TPFDDs to ensure data is correct in accordance with established Commands and Combatant Command guidelines.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires incumbent employee to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Experience in deployment and redeployment of forces during exercises, contingency operations and general wartime; 2) Compile, analyze, and maintain deployment data using systems intrinsic to military deployments; 3) Interpret the regulations, policies and procedures pertinent to Department of Defense structure; 4) Experience and familiarity with transportation requirements to resolve complex problems related to deployments. 4) Experience in the use of the Joint Operations Planning and Execution System (JOPES), Department of the Army Mobilization Common Operating Picture (MOBCOP), consisting of Mobilization Deployment Information Systems (MDIS), Department of the Army Mobilization Processing System (DAMPS), and MOBCOP Messaging System (MMS), Time Phased Force Deployment Data (TPFDD) in support of Army deployments.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. [remove LL.M., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Operations SupportPlanning and EvaluatingStrategic Thinking Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
