You will serve as a Nuclear Continuing Training & Development Coordinator in the Pipe Shop (960), Productions Resources Department Manager (901), Production Resources Department (900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will develop, initiate, schedule and implement programs for the development of personnel through Continuing Training and Development Program. You will coordinate instructional training work with other instructors. You will conduct training research for budget purposes and for training quality assurance. You will collaborate with instructors, specialist, supervisors, managers, subject matter experts and employees at all levels within other training departments. You will counsel students on progress and suggest ways for improvements. You will maintain training records and reports by utilizing computer software storage systems.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • You will be required to climb ladders and scaffolding.
  • You will be required to distinguish between colors and shades of colors.
  • You will be required to lift/carry up to 50 pounds in weight.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with computer skills and maintaining comprehensive electronic files to include completed training, attribute sheets, training commence and conclusion dates; Experience in trade standard operating procedures, NAVSEA instructions, shipyard and shop polices and instructions for non-nuclear ship repair projects; Experience in planning and executing training programs; Experience leading, facilitating and conducting classes. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
