You will serve as a SUPERVISORY TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the Welding Shop (Code 926), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will provide technical guidance and direction concerning methods, procedures, and techniques of instruction.
You will set work priorities and alter priorities based on workload.
You will approve the training schedule and allocation of required facilities and equipment.
You will coordinate training to avoid conflicts between courses and set priorities in the event of a conflict.
You will assign studies, surveys, drills, and internal audits as appropriate to ensure adherence to current shipyard requirements.
You will meet with Shop Superintendents to assess workload training needs and assess methods to achieve workload goals.
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience overseeing a training program (e.g. schedule, curriculum, equipment needs, and instructors).
Experience developing, evaluating, and revising program objectives and instructional plans.
Experience applying knowledge of established work processes and procedures of the welding trade.
Experience understanding the organizational makeup of the shipyard.
Experience implementing knowledge of principles, theories, techniques, and methodologies of nuclear propulsion plant processes.
