You will serve as a SUPERVISORY TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the Welding Shop (Code 926), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will plan, assign, and evaluate work performed by subordinates. You will oversee the development of metrics to measure the effectiveness of training. You will provide guidance in the principles, procedures, and techniques of the shipyard training process. You will develop complex training schedules. You will lead departmental wide training and professional development sessions to improve efficiency. You will serve as an Advisor to the Apprentice Program to develop workforce continuity. You will investigate and recommend the purchase of classroom equipment.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
• Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing training to personnel assigned to perform nuclear and non-nuclear welding work. Experience weld qualifications and qualification maintenance. Experience implementing knowledge of the weld continuous training and development (CTD) program. Experience maintaining the weld shop training budget. Experience developing new methods or approaches in shipyard training instruction. Experience supervising others.
