You will serve as a TRAINING AND EXERCISE OFFICER in the JOINT TRNG AND SERVICE BRANCH of MARFORCOM NORFOLK.

Duties

You will coordinate exercise force deployment, command relationships, funding and logistics support. You will review, analyze, and evaluate exercise requirements. You will ensure detailed coordination and execution of all component training evolutions. You will provide information, position, and decision papers and read ahead for senior leadership on all areas of responsibility presented under "Major Duties" or as directed. You will review, promulgate, and assess trends in lessons learned from joint and service training events.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in performance of the following duties: (1) Joint or Service exercise planning at the major subordinate command level or higher. (2) Developing commander's training guidance and training plans. (3) Drafting and releasing formal messages (e.g., exercise directives, feasibility of support messages, calling messages, etc.). (4) Developing and presenting briefs to senior leaders (i.e., in progress reviews, confirmation briefs, after action reviews, etc.). (5) Reviewing, analyzing, and coordinating exercise requirements to include exercise objectives, training objectives, exercise force requirements, and exercise budget requirements.
