About the Position: This position is located on Fort Leonard Wood, MO
Duties
Manages the Integrated Training Area Management and Range Complex Master Plan (RCMP) programs. Plans, directs, and manages all range training, utilization, and maintenance activities.
Serves as the senior advisor/range program advisor to the installation Commander, DPTM, and all users of installation range facilities on the conduct and safety in the firing of live ordinance.
Evaluates subordinate supervisors and serves as the reviewing official on evaluations of nonsupervisory employees rated by subordinate supervisors.
Makes decisions on work problems presented by subordinate supervisors.
Serves as the technical authority on all matters pertaining to the conduct of live fire training, range utilization, range safety, implementation of installation safety regulations, range design, range and training area maintenance and operations.
Ensures appropriate coordination and safety of directed combined arms firing exercises which include fighter aircraft, troop carrying aircraft, maneuvering troops and various types of artillery and ground weapons fire.
Coordinates with FAA and controls all civilian and military aircraft flying within airspace restricted area.
Assists commanders and staff officers from active, Reserve, and National Guard military units to plan safe exercises such as summer encampments, maneuvers, test exercises, demonstrations and live fire.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: advising personnel involved in the monitoring and control of ranges, facilities and all types of training; planning work schedules for employees to meet all shift requirements; plan and coordinate range training support requirements; collect, organize and maintain statistical data, records, and other pertinent information used to prepare various recurring reports for use by the installation's higher headquarters and conduct the daily business of Range Safety Operations Officer with no safety related incidents or safety violations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-12).
