Duties

Serves as a principal representative of the installation management team, meeting with Commanders and top management officials of the installation and tenant organizations. Prepares policy drafts subject to the approval of the GC/DGC. Serves as the Executive Officer to the Garrison Commander (GC) and Deputy Garrison Commander (DGC) of the U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Leonard Wood. Formulates and recommends new policies and revisions of policy, program documents and regulations to provide advice and assistance to the Garrison staff. Reviews projects and fund estimates, including space allocation, project locations, facility and equipment requirements and personnel requirements. Analyzes, writes, and interprets rules, regulations, directives, correspondence, and related publications on matters of administration, and keeps apprised of significant changes and developments for local impact and/or implementation. Issues a broad array of operating program guidance to supplement higher echelon and Command policies.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • his position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • May be required to work weekend, evening and holidays.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes advising senior leaders and subordinates on policy/procedures for an organization or command; serving as an advisor on technical and administrative matters relating to the accomplishment, coordination, and disposition of staff actions and assignments; initiating/composing correspondence based on knowledge of programs/mission; carrying out assignments of a sensitive or confidential nature; directing and assigning work to staff. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementLeadershipOrganizational AwarenessOrganizational Performance Analysis Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
