You will serve as an Engineering Technician for a multi-trade research and development (R&D) project P-98, within the structural engineering division (Code 250) at PSNS and IMF.
This position requires a top-secret clearance.
Duties
You will serve as a project manager for a multi-trade research and development project P-98, within the structural engineering division (Code 250) at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility.
You will have management and technical responsibility for project work in connection with research and development of non-metallic advanced coating systems, and coordinates efforts to transfer these technologies to fleet assets.
You will coordinate across organizational lines within all Shipyard departments and various headquarters and contractor representatives.
You will resolve conflicts occurring during development of work packages.
You will serve as the point of contact for communications between customers, the business office, and the Shipyard Commander.
You will develop and coordinate developments of project availability work packages.
You will provide advice and recommendations for design changes.
You will assign, review work, and lead assigned personnel.
You will work with Project Management personnel to develop a Plan of Action and Milestones to guide Engineering and Planning Department efforts for successful project completion.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing technical engineering planning and advisory services for evaluating problems, coordinating or modifying project work, and recommending solutions on research and development projects for supporting effective modernization of naval vessels.
