You will serve as a TRAVEL ASSISTANT in the COMMAND OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of FLTREADCEN EAST.
Duties
You will serve as liaison and technical expert for the interpretation and application of travel directives, policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
You will review official travel for Authorizing Officials and Certifying Officers (AO/CO) based on trip data, estimated costs, and exceptions to local and federal travel policies.
You will perform as the travel voucher reviewer, monitors payments of TDY/TAD and local travel in accordance with the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), Federal Travel Regulations (FTR), and command policy.
You will provide advice and recommendations to the Lead Transportation Specialist and Travel Branch Head on the status of work in progress, backlogs, and how to improve travel efficiency.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
FOR THE GS-06 LEVEL:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of SPECIALIZED experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in providing advice and recommendations to the Lead Transportation Specialist and Travel Branch Head on the status of work in progress, backlogs, and how to improve travel Efficiency; 2) Having a practical knowledge of the local and general travel industry rules, Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) and procedures; 3) Possessing the computer ability to generate daily information, Travel information, and other materials pertaining to the Defense Travel System (DTS); 4) Assisting in planning, coordinating, creating, and processing all type of travel documents (TDY, TAD, local, etc.) in DoD web-based software systems; 5) Assisting in providing guidance on Joint Travel Regulation (JTR) requirements, FRCE policy and general provisions related to official travel.
FOR THE GS-07 LEVEL:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of SPECIALIZED experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
