You will serve as a HOUSING REFERRAL ASSISTANT in the Family Housing Office, Facilities Directorate, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC.
This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will interview personnel of all ranks seeking housing assistance.
You will counsel personnel on eligibility requirements, availability of housing, application procedures for on-station housing, current off-station referral procedures and services and Basic allowances for housing (BAH) entitlements.
You will locate rental and sales property through continuous contact with realtors, property owners and property managers with in a one-hour commute of MCAS Cherry Point.
You will inspect properties and surrounding common areas for condition, location, and restrictions to determine suitability for rent to service members.
You will oversee and maintain the Automated housing Referral Network (AHRN) system to ensure rental listings are suitable and currently available for rent or sale.
You will investigate and mediate complaints of civilian landlords against military tenants and of military tenants against civilian landlords, as required.
You will prepare correspondence for Boards of Directors, Chamber of Commerce and officials of cities within MCAS Cherry Point commuting distance.
You will attend meetings and give brief and presentations regarding all aspects of the Housing arena.

- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- In accordance with MARADMIN 266/12, this is a Noncritical Sensitive IT-II position requiring access to the Marine Corps Total Force System (MCTFS).
- As a condition of employment; the incumbent of this position must successfully undergo an ANACI background investigation to remain qualified to hold this position.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-06) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Interview personnel on eligibility requirements, availability of housing, application procedures for on-station housing, current off-station referral procedures and services and basic Allowance for Housing entitlements.
Additional Qualifications:
(a) Must have experience with housing application DD FORM 1746 and referrals for government or PPV quarters.
(b) Experience conducting inspections on residential facilities off-station.
(c) Ability to work independently, conduct research, and identify trends.
(d) Must be knowledgeable about family housing regulations and acceptable conditions.
(e) Must be knowledgeable in annual BAH survey and Homes.mil.
