As a Senior Paralegal Specialist at the GS-0950-12, you will be part of Retirement Services, Office of Personnel Management.
The incumbent will serve as the Senior Paralegal Specialist distributing and monitoring workloads for teams, overseeing the application of law and regulations of the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) and Federal Employees Retirement Systems (FERS) and the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHB).
Duties
Examining and evaluating court orders to determine compliance requirements.
Reviewing and approving recommendations and decisions.
Reviewing claims and making post-adjudicative determinations.
Responding to external inquiries from Congressional sources, attorneys, state agencies, survivors and others.
Serving as a liaison for internal and external customers.
Qualifications
For the GS 12: You must have at least one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the private or public sector) performing all of the following:
1) Performing work on cases associated with retirement, insurance, or other Federal benefits and entitlements; AND
2) Responding to inquiries from individuals or groups requesting privileged information or records; AND
3) Participating in collaborative work teams to apply the laws and regulations that govern federal benefits; AND
4) Performing assessments and evaluations of systems and processes to propose enhancements and optimizations.

Merit promotion applicants must meet the time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS12 level.
