This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of General Counsel in Washington, DC. The incumbent serves as the Paralegal Specialist for OGC Headquarters with responsibility for analyzing the legal impact of legislative developments, administrative and judicial decisions, opinions, determinations and rulings on agency programs.
Duties
Drafts correspondence and provides background information to assist in responding to Congressional inquiries, government officials, lenders, law firms, and borrowers; accesses files and databases, and conducts searches in a variety of legal and non-legal databases.
Conducts research of legislation, regulations, and precedent for complex cases, such as those requiring research of statutory, regulatory, court and/or administrative precedents, and other legal opinion or documentary materials.
Examines, evaluates and proposes responses to Freedom of Information requests and Privacy Act issues.
Prepares for OGC management briefings and reports on a variety of administrative and technical legal issues.
Utilizes computer programs and software to accomplish the work of the office; utilizes databases to store and retrieve data and produce reports.

Qualifications
GS-0950-13: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following tasks:
performing advanced legal research; checking and verifying legal citations; assisting attorney in preparation for litigation; drafting documents and reports connected with agency programs and policies; drafting legal documents and answers to interrogatories, as well as other discovery requests;prepare responses to FOIA requests.

Candidate requires experience in managing and navigating databases in Relativity.
