Duties include but may not be limited to:
Prepares budget execution and formulation documents related to a major agency program.
Prepares estimates of salaries, supplies, services, and cost comparisons.
Prepares written reports of trends in the obligation, receipt, and expenditure of funds.
Prepares practical guidance and procedures for use in the administration of budget system databases of a major national agency program.
Analyzes cost, benefits, and trends in rates of obligations and expenditure of funds to support the mission and program objectives.
Enters, manages, and maintains data updates in a timely and accurate manner to support the budget processes, utilizing applicable resources.
Ensures that data in accounting and financial management systems and tracking databases are current and correct.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
- You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
- Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Budget Analyst at (GS-0560-12), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties: 1) Performing budget execution and formulation duties related to a major agency program; 2) Executing budget formulation, presentation, and execution services and documentation; 3) Generating written reports of trends in the receipt, obligation, and expenditure of funds; and 4) Interpreting and applying laws, regulations, policies, standards or procedures specific to budgetary and financial issues.
If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).
