About the Position: Serves as Interdisciplinary Project Engineer in the Maintenance Section providing expertise of a Mechanical/Marine Engineer to the Maintenance Team and as a subject matter expert for the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division, providing technical expertise related specifically to regional maintenance activities throughout the inland waterways including expertise related to dredging equipment, and other maintenance and repair activities.

Duties

Responsible for project execution by coordinating the planning, funding, design, construction, operation and maintenance of each project with respect to USACE, Federal, and state, local and private interest. Due to impacts upon the environment, economy, or general safety of the area, projects characterized by intensive governmental, public, navigation and special interest involvement. Evaluates condition of the project operating equipment and recommends maintenance/repairs to provide continued safe and efficient operations. Serves on Division/Corps wide teams and communities of practice as a technical expert and advisor in navigation and flood control project maintenance and rehabilitation and participate on multi-disciplinary teams to resolve complex issues. Provide feedback to inland waterways districts for major maintenance on lock and dam and appurtenant structure facility sites. Ensure all repair projects are afforded proper priority, that needed information and resources are available, and that commitments are met. Prepares design sketches, plans, specifications, cost estimates for proposed repairs and alterations to navigation locks and dams and flood control structures.
