You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the ASSESSMENTS AND C4I DIVISION, ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.

Duties

You will plan and assign work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work. You will develop performance standards, evaluate work performance, monitor employee production, and complete performance appraisals. You will communicate and coordinate efforts with external organizations involved with broad aspects of shipboard systems to resolve issues of funding, workload, or interrelationships. You will oversee assigned electronic technician personnel as a first line supervisor with overall responsibility for the technical accuracy and adequacy of all tasks accomplished. You will coordinate complex investigations and research into combat systems equipment and systemic problems that require immediate resolution for ship readiness. You will be responsible for engineering actions, judgements, and decisions which affect the installation and operation of systems and components with regards to expense, workmanship quality, productivity and safety.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical guidance and direction by monitoring production, identifying issues, and recommending solutions to ensure effective installation, repair, maintenance, or overhaul of shipboard systems and equipment.
