You will serve as a SUPV ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Engineering Department Submarine Branch of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.

Duties

You will provide engineering guidance for novel/complex problems or matters with far reaching impact. You will review reports prepared by technical personnel to ensure compliance with administrative and procedural requirements. You will review reports prepared by GS-12 and below to assure technical adequacy/accuracy of recommendations. You will determine skill characteristics required of the Branch based on workload demands and analysis of new ships' features. You will manage branch finances to ensure proper utilization and preclude over expenditures. You will establish and maintain as the liaison with NAVSEA, NUWC, Fleet Commands, MSC and the Coast guard for coordinating effort and mutual support. You will establish contact as necessary with engineering personnel of manufacturers involved, to obtain and interpret specific information not available in Navy documents You will arrange for assistance from other commands or contractors when workload precludes accomplishment by SWRMC. You will plan work and assign tasks to subordinates within their areas of specialization, indicating general nature of problem and priority in relation to other tasks. You will be responsible for technical and repair support of diversified and complex submarine weapons, acoustics, and electronic systems. You will stay abreast to the latest technology, exchange technical matters relating to assigned systems and other system requirements. You will give advice and counsels coordinators and employees on both work and administrative matters.

Requirements

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing engineering technical guidance to ship repair projects to ensure technical and administrative support of assigned systems or equipment.
