You will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the Safety Division of the Headquarters and Service Battalion in HQTSBATTALION.
Duties
You will conduct Safety and Occupational Health surveys to evaluate the safety programs for risks or hazards in workplaces, facilities and operations (e.g., industrial, warehouse, maintenance, range, tactical safety).
You will analyze new and existing processes, products, or facilities to determine the existence, severity, probability, and outcome of hazards.
You will advise leadership on work hazard analysis, environmental issues, system safety regulations, occupational health, and administrative safety matters to improve operations.
You will draft reports on mishap investigations resulting in damage to property, equipment, or occupational illness to personnel explaining identifies causes and preventative actions.
You will conduct risk assessment to identify and eliminate unsafe operations affecting military readiness programs.
You will conduct on-site surveys to identify environmental regulation violations and recommend corrective actions
You will develop lesson plans for required safety and occupational health topics and present training to an open audience greater than 100

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid States driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a non-sensitive background requirement.
- Must obtain and/or maintain required certifications associated with specialized programs such as Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, and Hazardous Materials.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required Medical Certification (MEDCERT) within 3 months of employment
- Must be able to obtain and/or maintain a valid state driver's license. Will be required to operate a government motor vehicle when conducting site visits away from Headquarters.
- Must be able to provide SME advice, guidance and presentations to a population that includes general officers and SES.
- Incumbent shall also receive a minimum of eight continuing education units (CEU) or equivalent per year.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning, organizing, and administering Safety, Occupational Health and/or environmental programs.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on meeting at least one of these listed educational accomplishments OR an equivalent combination of experience and education:
- Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

- Successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

- Successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.
