About the Position: Serves as the Safety and Occupational Health technical advisor/subject matter expert/program manager the Army National Military Cemeteries (ANMC), a Direct Reporting Unit to Headquarters, Department of the Army.

Duties

Inspect all ANMC facilities to include two permanent tenant organizations operating on cemetery grounds. Identify hazards and make recommendations for correction, implementation, and control of these hazards. Provide staff advice and technical assistance for assigned safety program areas requiring the development and application of new and unique facilities safety standards and SOPs. Utilize expert interpersonal communications skills to influence positive change in safety and industrial hygiene practices across the cemetery. Plan and direct the command implementation of the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act as provided by DOD and DA policies, regulations, and directives. Issue policy and procedures and ensures adequate implementation to obtain compliance. Develop systems and processes for tracking both visitor and employee accidents and injuries. Establish control measures in accordance with mandated precedence, i.e., engineering controls, isolation, substitution of less toxic substances, and use of personal protective equipment. Make special studies of specific hazards during field survey and inspections.

  • You may be expected to travel up to 25% for this position.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards; implementing programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses; and designing or modifying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems to control or eliminate hazards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Compliance Inspection and Program ManagementSafety and Occupational Health (SOH) Hazard ControlSafety and Occupational Health (SOH) Hazard Identification Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
