About the Position: This position is with the National Guard Bureau, AVN & IW, SAFETY & STNDZ BR, Arlington, VA.
About the Surrounding Area: Situated in Northern Virginia on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C. Arlington is headquarters to many departments and agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Defense and is the location of many national memorials and museums.
Duties
Evaluate installation Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) functional Safety and Occupational Health Programs for effective implementation.
Manage and evaluate headquarter level functional Safety and Occupational Health Programs for effective implementation.
Review workplace safety hazard tracking logs, safety assessment data, and SOPs to ensure safety and Risk Management are integrated and controls are established for identified hazards.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires qualification training to meet FC-12 credentials (or equivalent) within two (2) years of appointment
- Personnel within this position are required to meet Army Professional Certificate Program requirements (or equivalent) within one year of appointment.
- This position requires acquisition of (a) The Army Professional Certificate in Safety and Occupational Health (PCSOH), (b) The Army Professional Certificate in Explosives Safety Level 1 (PCES1), and Level 2, within 2yr of appointment.

GS-14: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: develop safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices, and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards; manage funding resources for program directives; manage safety programs and operations; coach subordinates on safety and operational hazards.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-13 or equivalent).
