About the Position: This position is with the National Guard Bureau, Airfield Operations Branch, Arlington, VA. About the Surrounding Area: Situated in Northern Virginia on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C., Arlington is headquarters to many departments and agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Defense and is the location of many national memorials and museums.

Duties

Formulate policy and recommending courses of action for the State leadership and Airfield Managers at ARNG airfields/heliports nationwide. Provide functional support and subject matter expertise to the Director, Army National Guard (DARNG), G-staff, States, and installation Airfield Operations in support of ARNG managed airfields/heliports. Review and evaluate branch operations and develop and install changes in internal procedures and policies as required to meet workload demands, changes in manpower and funds authorizations, and effect more efficient and effective workflow.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: oversight of airfield safety programs and processes, perform risk assessments and identify/recommend mitigation strategies; administer airfield safety operational prevention programs, foreign object debris (FOD) management, wildlife hazard management, and flightline driving training programs, perform airfield inspections and checks; manage and maintain airfield safety reports such as accident, incident, and OHR (Operational Hazard Reports); provide guidance covering a wide range of administrative and management safety issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-12 or equivalent). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: LeadershipProgram ManagementTechnical Credibility Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
