Duties
At the GS-11 you will perform duties as they are assigned.
At the GS-12 you will perform the below duties:
You will perform and advise on work in any of the phases or systems of budget administration.
You will formulate budget and estimates to support plans, programs and activities.
You will review and evaluate budget requests.
You will conduct a variety of other fiscal, accounting, or financial management duties and responsibilities.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- At the GS-11 you will be required to obtain the below certification:
- This is a Financial Management Level I certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
- At the GS-12 you will be required to obtain the below certification:
- This is a Financial Management Level II certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
Qualifications
GS-11: You must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing financial management tasks. Specialized experience must include some or all of the following: 1) Analyzing financial policies and procedures; 2) Performing corrective actions as required; 3) Assisting with formulating budget estimates for various programs when funding requirements change; 4) Utilizing knowledge of budgetary policies, precedents, procedures and regulations; 5) Following policy requirements on various financial management systems
GS-12: You must demonstrate one year of specialized experience to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing financial management tasks. Specialized experience should include most or all of the following: 1) Applying analytical techniques, financial policies and procedures in development of instructions; 2) Providing effective and timely recommendations based on alternative business solutions and gathering data and provide appropriate corrective actions as required; 3) Formulating budget estimates for various programs in which funding requirements have changed significantly; 4) Applying knowledge of budgetary policies, precedents, procedures and regulations; 5) Interpreting policy requirements on various financial management and support systems.

Education
In lieu of experience, applicants can qualify using education in place of specialized experience at the GS-11.
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
