Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing technical and advisory assistance to support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's Office. Typical work assignments will include: Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting goals and priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work; Maintaining network, architecture, and infrastructure; Configuring and maintaining servers, hubs, routers, and switches; Resolving hardware/software interface and interoperability problems; Optimizing system performance and identifying components to improve overall systems performance; Managing accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment; Planning, analyzing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools; Maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data; Monitoring functionality, security and integrity of internet services; Managing internet servers; Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining customer hardware and software; Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining litigation support equipment; Assessing and developing policies to govern IT activities to meet USAO needs and requirements. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
  • If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating possession of each of the following basic competencies as defined below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Analyzing specific details and guidelines. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: providing assistance to co-workers in the immediate office. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Exchanging IT related information when called upon. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Reviewing computer related issues. In addition to demonstrating the basic qualifications listed above, applicants must also demonstrate one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in federal service as defined below. GS-13: To be eligible at the GS-13 level, you must meet one full year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level. Specialized Experience: Qualifying experience demonstrates performing duties such as using information technology concepts, methods, standards and practices to evaluate and resolve hardware and software problems; planning and improving information systems to meet the needs of customer requirements; planning and scheduling the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems and applications software; monitoring functionality, security and integrity of internet services; assessing IT policy needs; establishing metrics to measure, and evaluate system performance; troubleshooting end user computer hardware and software issues; maintaining systems accounts with various enterprise software programs; providing for customer training including orientation of new users; maintenance of server and LAN/WAN activities; maintenance and troubleshooting of network problems. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
