You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/CUSTSPT) at MARINE CORPS RECRUITERS SCHOOL of MARINE CORP RECRUITING COMMAND.

Duties

You will install the operating system and all required and optional authorized software applications on all workstations. You will configure troubleshoot and diagnose software, printing and multifunction devices (MFDs), telephone systems to include unified communications systems, wireless mobile devices. You will troubleshoot and diagnose hardware/software interoperability problems. You will maintain customer hardware by performing required repairs and installation of components on computers, MFDs and other Information Systems (IS) systems as necessary. You will diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems in response to customer reported incidents (to include Marine Corps Recruiting Command sponsored recruiting software platforms). You will ensure the Information Assurance (IA) training of each user is completed before granting or continuing the user's access to systems. You will prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information. You will assist Recruiters School staff in identifying and purchasing new equipment and services to meet the operational needs of the school.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain the proper Information Assurance (IA) certification for information assurance position as required in the DoD 8570.1-M.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 411, 441, and 451, proficiency level Basis the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: installing and troubleshooting customer hardware and software to ensure security is maintained through Information Assurance such as network access and end points. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: verifying hardware and software and equipment are in accordance with DOD policy and directives. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Maintaining customer hardware and resolving software problems in response to customer reported incidents. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Working with personnel to plan, coordinate and resolve issues by influencing people to work towards mutual goals and have basic cooperative attitudes. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Troubleshooting, diagnosing hardware/software interoperability problems by repairing and applying software patches. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, applicant may qualify for this position through education substitution. To qualify based on education substitution, applicant must possess:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks

OR

2 full years (36 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
