This is a GS-09 developmental, career ladder position that serves as a Records and Information Management Specialist is located the Department of Justice (DOJ), National Security Division (NSD), Office of Intelligence (OI). The mission of the NSD is to coordinate the Department's efforts in carrying out its core mission of combating terrorism and protecting national security.

The primary purpose of this position is to perform the administration, coordination, and implementation of the NSD records management system. The incumbent ensures compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance and advises managers on Records and Information Management (RIM). Typical duties of this Records and Information Management Specialist position include but are not limited to: Provides technical assistance to unit staff and makes recommendations to management in operating the automated cases management system and other automated tools. Performs complex and comprehensive searches in response to a variety of information requests about legal cases and documents to include real time inquiries in a sensitive environment. Serves as point of contact for technical instruction germane to information processing regarding a suite of various automated tools. Performs court logistics (data processing, document transport, case filing) to facilitate workflow in support of processes for internal and interagency customers. Responsible for escorting visitors in the SCIF area and ensuring compliance with all regulations governing a controlled environment containing documents and information of a classified nature.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Records Information Management Specialist, (GS-0308-9/11), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to the series and grade you are applying to. To Qualify for the Records Information Management Specialist GS-0380-9, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing administrative duties of an organizations records management system (filing, processing, data integrity, indexing, document imaging, etc.). OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related OR A Combination of Education and experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9 and GS-11. (When crediting education that requires specific course work, prorate the number of hours of related courses required as a proportion of the total education to be used.) To Qualify for the Records Information Management Specialist GS-0380-11, your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector independently performing cradle to the grave administrative duties of an organization's records management system. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related OR A Combination of Education and experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9 and GS-11. (When crediting education that requires specific course work, prorate the number of hours of related courses required as a proportion of the total education to be used.) Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
