About the Position: Serves as the Deputy and Supervisor within the War Plans and Strategy Division in Redstone Arsenal Alabama.
Duties
Assume responsibilities of the Division Chief during absence; oversees mission support.
Provide guidance and direction on products and outputs in line with WPSD functions.
Serve as the primary rater for three teams; maintains DPMAP oversight for the Division.
Provide recommendations on assignments, team missions, awards and ongoing hiring actions.
Support development of studies, exercises and products related to OPLANs/Theater Support.
Direct analytic reviews of National level documents, doctrinal/regulatory guidelines and taskers.
Serve as principal advisor to the Division Chief, G3-0RD Deputy and AMC G3.
Routine interactions with AMC and Army senior leaders; independent interactions are required.
Support requirements and initiatives ISO external AMC customers focused on War Planning efforts.
Conduct research and analysis ICW WPSD Teams to support today and sustain future operations.
Responsible for development of hiring actions, to build a capable strategic planning team.
Maintain direct oversight of internal data base, archives and historic files for accountability and future utilization.
Exercise overall responsibility for advising WPSD on future strategic goals for the Command.
Provide exceptional oral and written communication skills to initiate and maintain effective interactions with Primary Staffs and Major Subordinate commands.
Prepare written reports, presentations, analysis and evaluations for GO/SES signature.
Brief Army senior leaders, and high-ranking military and civilians at the Strategic level.
Strong working knowledge of Policy and Procedures at the Army and Joint level
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security/(SCI) clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) of occasional business travel.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes 1) Developing policy and procedures for division administrative operations, integration, tasks management, fiscal budgetary planning, and personnel management; 2) Conducting analysis of all strategic guidance, policies and plans at the Command and higher-level components; 3) Advising leadership on the impact of current and future changes to the strategic environment and recommended courses of action; AND 4) Conducting organizational evaluation and process improvement analysis. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
