About the Position: CID is an independent federal law enforcement agency of nearly 3,000 personnel assigned to 124 world-wide locations, responsible for felony criminal investigations and operations; war crimes and terrorism investigations, criminal intelligence collection and analysis; cybercrime investigations and operations; multi-dimensional forensic support; and protective service operations for the Secretary of Defense, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and other high-risk personnel.
Duties
Manage a variety of administrative functions that include personnel management, budget, facilities, etc.
Provide recommendations to improve administrative processes and procedures.
Use advanced analytical techniques to develop conclusions.
Conduct on-site inspections of subordinate offices to ensure compliance.
Analyze problematic situations requiring quick action and potential ramifications of alternative solutions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Secret clearance for Federal employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-11 Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes: 1) assisting in researching existing administrative regulations and procedural guidelines; 2) participating in special projects to support field office programs; and 3) reviewing documentation for accuracy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education:
Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as business administration, project management or organizational management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
GS-12 Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) demonstrating judgment in researching existing administrative regulations and procedural guidelines; 2) analyzing performance of the field office programs to ensure effectiveness; 3) providing recommended courses of action on systematic program issues; and 4) ensuring programs are performed in compliance with applicable policies and regulations.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
