About the Position: Serves as a Training Ammunition Manager with responsibility for gathering requirements, facilitating end user process refinement, planning information technology solutions, and overseeing the implementation across the Command functional areas for IMCOM HQ, located in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Duties
Plans, coordinates, and implements DA and FORSCOM regulatory guidelines, policies and procedures for management and accountability of training ammunition.
Publishes formal documents and informs units of the policies and procedures that must be followed when obtaining and managing training ammunition.
Maintains currency in unit training objectives and needs and evaluates training ammunition support by initiating correspondence, conducting informal surveys and holding periodic meetings.
Reviews, evaluates and responds directly to TAMIS inquiries from supporting and supported command /unit staffs.
Considers regulatory training requirements, training documents and goals, force structure, effects of new weapon systems, and local conditions when determining the most feasible distribution of training ammunition authorizations.
Submits validated requirements by Department of Defense Identification Code (DODIC) along with the necessary narrative justifications through TAMIS directly to FORSCOM.
Maintains awareness of training plan execution throughout the ARFORGEN and annual cycle and determines the impact on the forecasting process.
Manages training ammunition authorizations, assists units with effective use of authorizations, cross-levels training ammunition authorizations amongst units within their TAMIS hierarchy, and meet critical training needs.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing efficient training ammunition managerial support, and providing technical expertise for training ammunition requirements determination, distribution and oversight of training ammunition authorizations and usages, and forecasting; AND overseeing a Standards in Weapons Training Commission (STRAC) Program and managing the Department of the Army automated Total Ammunition Management Information System (TAMIS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
