You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the Welding Shop (Code 926), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will develop, revise, and adapt assigned courses.
You will modify teaching approach for deficiencies of specific individuals.
You will =develop facilities, training devices, and evaluation tools.
You will prepare lesson plans and training materials based on course objectives.
You will conduct training and assess progress of students in meeting desired objectives, including advising and assisting them to improve their performance.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience using various training methods to devise an employee development and training program.
Experience implementing and teaching the knowledge of the nuclear subject matter to provide practical application of the trade integrated with safety, radiological, and other requirements.
Experience working with welding trade processes, practices, materials, equipment, and techniques.
Experience instructing others in nuclear subjects.
Experience implementing knowledge and skill of the welding trade that was obtained through a 4 year apprenticeship or comparable on the job training.
Experience speaking in front of large groups.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
