This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Office of External Relations. As a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist (Deputy Chief, Office of External Relations), you will work with the Chief leading day-to-day work with the OEX team, including oversight of employee communications, social media and tour and visitor center operations, and will work with other offices to provide counsel on their communication objectives.
Duties
As a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist (Deputy Chief, Office of External Relations), you will:
Coordinate and manage all public relations activities and public information activities for the Bureau. This includes congressional, public and media, social media oversight, internal and external communications, special projects, the BEP Tour and Visitor Centers, the Historical Resource Center, marketing and public sales, numismatic and philatelic shows. Responsibilities also include working with the Federal Reserve Board of Governors staff on currency education programs.
Direct the execution of an effective external relations program to ensure the timely and accurate release of information and responses to the general public, news media, Congressional staff, and numerous stakeholders.
Manage a wide scope of internal and external communication needs of the Bureau. Internally, this includes working with Bureau Directorates and Offices to identify long-term communication needs. Externally, this includes Congressional and media relations, local, national and international audiences throughout both the broadcast, print and social media.
Oversee the written materials produced by Bureau employees which includes press releases, issue papers, briefing materials, talking points, feature articles, op-ed pieces, speeches, congressional inquiries, film treatments, scripts, and informational brochures about the Bureau.
Supervise the management of the Office of External Relations Division Managers and programs - ensuring implementation and administration of public education, informational outreach initiatives, and special events and projects.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position includes:
Assisting with managing official communications that convey information related to an organizations products, programs, and policies; AND
Managing or leading a team of public affairs specialists who handle media relations for a professional organization; AND
Collaborating with others to develop a variety of digital communications such as websites, social media, videos, or digital signage; AND
Assisting with the planning and execution of special projects or events.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
